About Cloth Edition

Our team of craftsmen work with traditional methods and materials to create fine printed fabrics. Our shop is capable of printing on almost any fabric, and has produced printed textiles for decades.

We use a water based ink system to ease environmental harm, and take care to reduce waste throughout our process. Many of the screens and tools we print with are heritage tools passed down to us. These traditional ways of working create the finest hand printed textiles.

Working primarily on fabric with repeating patterns, Cloth Edition offers custom yardage printing, limited edition prints and products. We offer contract printing for interior design, fashion, and artist projects.

Interior Design

We produce textiles primarily for the interiors market, printing designs for boutique fabric lines. With over 30 years experience in this industry, we create fabrics with attention to detail and a sensitivity to the unique needs of a particular project. From drapery panels to upholstery pieces, we work to make sure that your fabric fits flawlessly into its end use. Our small print runs give us the ability to quality control each piece, and allows our clients the flexibility to print to order or maintain an inventory.

Vintage Reproductions

Over the years we have worked on numerous projects replacing historic custom fabrics. We work with a sample of the original fabric to recreate the pattern, match the original colors and base cloth to achieve as close a replica as we can. Some of our most intricate projects, these prints often push the limits of screen printing on textiles, and at the same time reveal old tricks the original printers used decades ago.

Fashion Industry

At Cloth Edition, we are uniquely suited to produce fabrics for boutique fashion brands. We have no minimum yardage, allowing small brands to create a variety of patterns without having to prints hundreds of yards. While we do not offer piece or t-shirt printing, we work with small fashion designers to create unique fabrics that stand out in the fashion world.

Artist Commissions

Working collaboratively with artists, we are able to work on a variety of projects from museum installations to limited edition prints on fabric. These prints are made in tandem with the artist, allowing them the ability to refine the print and make sure it matches the vision for their artworks. Artists also commission prints as part of installations, such as these prints by Andrea Geyer, which were shown at SF MoMA and Hales Gallery in Dublin, Ireland.

Founded in 2022, Cloth Edition grew out of the efforts of Anne Kirk to continue the tradition of hand printed textiles in San Francisco. Kirk has worked in the interior design and printing industry for over 30 years, and brings that depth knowledge to Cloth Edition. As the last yardage printing shop in San Francisco was set to close, Anne Kirk and printer Ryan Harrison took over and started Cloth Edition Printshop. Expanding the range of the shop from an interiors focus, Cloth Edition is a versatile and dynamic print shop, producing yardage for artists and designers across industries.
